Highlights

Location: Minutes from Banff National Park

Rooms: Rooms with full kitchens

Wellness: Heated indoor pool and sauna

Family-Friendly: Adventure Program for kids

“From what I've gathered, this place pitches itself squarely at families, particularly those with younger children who'll find a lot to love in the pool area and play center. Condos and chalets have full kitchens and separate living spaces, essential for longer stays with kids. The location is removed enough to feel quiet, yet the free bus passes make getting into Banff itself a breeze.”

Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Douglas Fir Resort & Chalets is a popular choice, particularly appreciated for its chalets featuring full kitchens or kitchenettes equipped with utensils, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. The resort's location is conveniently close to Banff's town center while still offering a quiet environment and mountain views. The water slides are a hit with kids, and while some guests have noted that certain facilities like the outdoor hot tub may occasionally be out of service, the availability of free bus tickets into town and parking are definite pluses.

Fantastic Stay with Great Amenities!

assigned parkingcozy atmospheremountain viewfaulty unit
The assigned parking spot made arrival smooth I appreciated it. The kitchen had everything I needed for cooking. The wood burning fireplace really created a cozy atmosphere, all necessary supplies were provided I was very happy. The balcony offered a good space for morning meals with mountain views I loved that.
The air conditioning unit in the first room they gave me was faulty it was a big problem. The staff did move me to another room eventually but this took three hours of my time! I lost valuable relaxation time as I only stayed one night it was frustrating.
Rooms
9/10
My room featured a full kitchen It was well stocked, and included a dishwasher. The studio was nice and neat I had a very pleasant stay. The bathroom was clean and there was a handheld shower head I found this useful.
Location

The hotel is near a bus stop It provides free bus passes to the town center. The shuttle bus to the town center stops close to the location I found it very convenient. This made getting around easy I did not need a car.
Service

I appreciated the free bus pass. The bus stop is conveniently located right in front of the hotel. access to downtown was easy. i also found the manager helpful with important business i needed to complete (very useful assistance!).
the accommodation seemed a bit dated. the kitchen needed a bit of cleaning before using it.

Convenient Family Stay

transit cardsequipped kitchennoisy heat
The hotel offers free transit cards for the Roam buses. It took only six minutes to reach the center by bus. The room included a well-equipped kitchen and a dining area.
The warm air heat was quite noisy. It turned on and off at ten-minute intervals. The bedding felt inadequate for the cold temperatures.
Dining
9/10
The available suites include kitchens. These kitchens are useful for preparing meals. The hotel provided utensils, and the oven was ready for use. There was even a dishwasher with soap.
Facilities
8/10
The hotel features two waterslides and both indoor and outdoor hot tubs. Reserved parking is offered. My kids particularly enjoyed the waterpark. We found it very convenient .
Service

The staff was excellent and very helpful. The staff found an extra night for us. We received transit cards for free bus travel. This made transportation around the area simple.
Location
10/10
The hotel is near the town center. There are mountains around it. Hiking trails are just outside the door. The bus stop is conveniently located across from the hotel.
